Abstract

The National Institutes of Health invests over $40 billion annually in research aimed at protecting and enhancing health, reducing illness and disability, and improving health system delivery. Although these topics are relevant to our science, I-O psychologists and management scholars are not well represented in NIH’s extramural grants portfolio. Drawing from 15 years of grant funding from NIH and service on numerous NIH peer review committees, Dr. Eby will discuss the basics of funding at NIH, including different grant mechanisms, review criteria, and research methods considerations. She will also provide tips for preparing successful grant applications and discuss new NIH funding priorities related to the biomedical workforce, health disparities, and social science research.
