Customized, Conversational AI For Organizational Research: Examples and Best Practices
AI research in the organizational sciences is exploding. Yet, as with many research areas, scholars still rely on hypotheticals, vignettes, or other approaches with little ecological validity. This lecture introduces Conversational AI (and tools like www.researchchatai.com) as no-code, cost-free, and easy-to-use ways for overcoming these approaches and producing high-quality research. Whether scholars are studying AI and want to manipulate different AI characteristics or attributes, or whether they want AI to impersonate organizational actors (e.g., the angry leader, friendly teammate, or helpless customer) to study phenomena unrelated to AI, conversational AI allows for highly immersive, real-time approaches to studying a wide range of research topics across different methodological paradigms (quantitative, qualitative, observational, experimental, etc.). Conversational AI is fully customizable without needing any coding expertise and provides automatic, direct access to behavioral data. In this lecture, I will showcase best practices, pitfalls, and hands-on examples of how to use this technology via the platform ResearchChatAI.

Dr. Roman Briker
Biography
Roman Briker is an Assistant Professor in Organizational Behavior & HRM at Maastricht University (The Netherlands). Roman received his Ph.D. in Organization & HRM from Justus-Liebig-University Giessen (Germany) and was a visiting scholar at TCU (Texas) in. He investigates the psychology of human-human and human-machine social influence processes, time (pressure) and stress at work, and meta- and data science methods. He is also the Open Science Ambassador at Maastricht University. His research has received several prestigious awards (Marie Curie Fellowship, Best Junior Researcher, Best Overall Paper OB Division at the Academy of Management Conference 2022, Best Dissertation Award) and has been published in prestigious journals like Science Advances, Organizational Research Methods, Personnel Psychology, and Journal of Organizational Behavior.
