Mixed methods research is the type of research in which a researcher or team of researchers combines elements of qualitative and quantitative approaches.   Learn and ask from our distinguished panelists about purposes and types of mixed methods research, as well as characteristics of successful mixed methods studies.  Each of our three-member panel will make a short presentation on some aspect of mixed methods research, after which remaining time will be devoted to Q&A with attendees.

MOLINA AZORIN, JOSE FRANCISCO

Dr. Jose Francisco Molina Azorin is a Professor of Economics and Vice-Chair for the Department of Management at the Universidad de Alciante. His teaching and research focus on strategic direction, business competitiveness, organizational design, environmental management and research methodology. Director of the research group “competitive strategy, organizational design, quality management and environmental management” (EDOCMA).

Dr. Scott Turner is a professor of management in the Darla Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina. Before joining the Moore School, he was an assistant professor at the University of Maryland, and he has held adjunct and visiting positions at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Duke University, and the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH Zurich). He holds a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Clemson University, an M.S. in Industrial Administration from Purdue University and a Ph.D. in Business Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

His research is in the areas of innovation, change and organizational routines. Industries of particular interest include solid waste management and computer software. His teaching has focused on strategic management at the undergraduate and masters levels and entrepreneurship at the undergraduate level.

 

Thomas Greckhamer HeadshotWith a focus on research methods, Dr. Thomas Greckhamer promotes a better understanding of methodologies applied in organizational and strategy research. His work has not gone unnoticed. Greckhamer has served as associate editor of Organizational Research Methods since 2016. Greckhamer researched strategic management, including successful and unsuccessful configurations of firm strategies and executive compensation. In addition to his teaching and research roles, Greckhamer directs the PhD program for the Rucks Department of Management.
