I found this visualization fascinating because it highlights how limited deep-sea exploration has been over the past 67 years. It shows that most dive activity is concentrated in just a few regions— the USA, Japan, and New Zealand. According to the journal article, only 0.0006 to 0.001% of the deep seafloor has been explored since 1958, which really illustrates how much of our ocean remains uncharted. The visualization puts these percentages into perspective.
