Open Science/Replication Research

Dr. Billy Obenauer

University of Maine

Workshop Overview

Management scholars are beginning to talk more about open science, but there still is still a great deal of uncertainty as to what it means to embrace open science practices (OSP). Building off Castille et al.’s (2022) adaptation of the Transparency and Openness Guidelines, in this session we will discuss how researchers can implement OSPs to make their research more transparent, more credible, and more visible. In the second half of this session, we will take a deeper dive into one of these OSPs, conducting replication research. This portion of the session will focus on how to conduct replication research in such a way it non-adversarial, advances science, and is highly publishable. Building off his own experience publishing replication research in journals such as The Leadership Quarterly, Human Factors, Journal of Global Mobility, and Journal of Management Scientific Reports, Billy Obenauer will take you through a step-by-step guide to how you can successfully conduct and publish high-quality replication research.
